Goldfinch Native Plant Landscaping is the passion project of Eric Walker, a Columbia resident since 2021. Eric has over 20 years experience in native plant propagation, restoration, and invasive plant removal. After graduating from the University of Delaware's College of Agriculture and Natural Resources Program in 2005, Eric began working with the Student Conservation Association and then the National Park Service, controlling invasive plants in National Parks throughout the west for more than ten years. During that period, he also honed plant propagation techniques in a native plant nursery in southern California, landscaped in Seattle, and developed Integrated Pest Management strategies while working for King County's Noxious Weed Control Program in Washington. He also managed invasive plant species while working for a large cattle ranch in western Montana before returning to the east coast in 2021. His diverse skill set and knowledge about controlling invasive plants is balanced by his passion for native wildflowers and pollinators and he'll happily talk your ear off about the native bees and butterflies your new pollinator habitat will attract.
